Yo. This is Reno, obviously not answering the phone. If you knew how to call my phone in the first place, you sure as hell know how to leave a message. Oh, look. A beep, yo.
It took Rikku a couple seconds after the beep to start talking, in a weirdly flat voice different from her usual bounce.
"Hey. It's me. I had to go on a ... thing. End of the world again 'n Mel kinda died except she didn't. We just ... thought she did. I'm all covered in ... demon goo and blood and guts and I think I gotta shower."
She hung up without realizing she hadn't said 'good-bye,' much less 'please come here when you get back,' which was the whole reason she'd called in the first place.
"Yo Reno!" Murdock's giddiness probably came through the machine loud and clear. "I got us a line on a chopper. Give me a holler and let me know when's good for ya."
There was a faint, yet distinct Whooooooo! coming through the line just before it went dead.
If anybody wondered at the loud "Whooooooooo!" that emanated from room 429 sometime Friday afternoon, it wasn't anything to be worried about, really.
It was just Reno, getting this message before feverishly checking his schedule to see what day he had free. It would have to be a day, dammit, because once he got up into the air, the only thing he was coming down for was fuel.
[I'll ping you tonight after work if you're on to talk about what day works for the both of us. :) Yay, chopper!]
"Reno? It's Ghanima Atreides. I've been called out of town on an emergency, and it is doubtful I will return by Monday. Notes are on my desk if you need them, but you and Miss Summers may do as you wish with the class, as long as you don't permanently traumatize anyone."
"Hello, it's Romeo. I've been called home for a few days. There shouldn't be any trouble there, but please keep an eye on Yurika, make sure she's not a bunny again, all of that. And tell Rikku I'll call her if I get a chance.
