i agree :/ it's so sad. I mean, I live up north but people here are still worried about it. I get teary eyed seeing all the animals covered in oil. I've donated around 40 dollars (well... technically 20 but the website matched my donation.) and i wish i could do more but :(
I would have to say that BP and associated companies are far more to blame than the government. It was their epic amounts of corner-cutting, safety violations, and disregard for anything but profit that caused this tragedy. Or hell, blame the Republicans for pushing so hard with their "completely save" "drill, baby, drill" platform.
At this point it isn't worth it to me to play the blame game anymore, just get it fixed! It seems like people rather joke about it then fight to fix the issues. I know there isn't much people can do but damn, just gets to me that we give so much to all these other damn countries and save nothing for ourselves.
They have already destroyed any hope of those fishermen/hotels/beaches of having ANY business for the next few years, if not decade. The economy can't take this.
On a much bigger global scale the animals and sea life DYING because of this is just too much to think about :(
ooooo you are soo right! i never even thought of it that way.. ive been trying to avoid the news lately- it makes me really sad when i think about how much we are loosing.
but really we pulled together as a nation to help haiti and all the other natural disasters, and when it comes to our nation its like no one cares!
It's awfully sad, environmentally and ecologically - and I'll freely admit that the sealife concerns me far more than the people. People can adapt, with help - it's not so easy for the animals, fish, etc.
At the same time, trying to cap the thing and working out what went wrong is very interesting from an engineering point of view.
this would be my wish too. I'm on the gulf side so as soon as I get back to florida I'm helping clean up those poor birds and all the animals soaked in oil. It makes me sick how much damage has been done and is still going on every day!
