I've finished marathoning the Water 7/Eines Lobby arc and it is epic. Shounen manga appears to benefit from being read in large quantities; I'm sure chasing the story chapter by chapter, week by week would have driven me quite mad. And yes. That arc rocks so hard it . . . causes spontaneous earthquakes. I've got hold of the DVDs of it which I will be showing an American friend in a couple of months, and I am already anticipating her choking noises.
(I know the manga is better. The manga is always better. The French translation of the manga is currently in the middle of it. But my friend does not read French.)

I stopped watching the anime long before W7. They aired the English dubs here a while back, and the voices drove me up the wall. The show itself seemed to capture the spirit of the manga reasonably well though.

I think I cried most when Merry died. And yes Paulie and his flashbacks and ARGH LUCCI HOW COULD YOU DO THAT when Paulie was obviously crazy for you and even the frog has a backstory and gah. ;_;
Ooh ooh and I finally get to go through you Water 7 site! Man those are some insanely talented people you've got featured. :D

The frog's backstory managed to make me cry. How awesome is it when a minor character's backstory (much less a sumo-wrestling giant frog that fights trains!) can actually get to you?
