This is so so much. So much loveliness. So much happiness mixed in with hints of what is to come. I love how it's just the two of them enjoying their youth. So often fics featuring Albus and Gellert are steeped in angst and grand plans of magic (which is always fun to read) but this was a breath of fresh air. It fits so well with what we know of them with Albus mentioning and worrying about Ariana...and Gellert saying we’ll have it all.”.

I'm glad you liked it :) I wanted to go for a 'slice-of-life' fic like you said you enjoyed, rather than going for the angst that can come with this pairing--they were happy together for at least a little bit during their time as friends ♥

This is interesting. I like how you make such a short piece work on two levels. On the one hand, they are both two young people in love enjoying a getaway, like any other young couple. But on the other hand, the reader can already see where they are headed and the darkness that will come later.

“There is freedom in power,” Albus said wisely. “I’d give anything for freedom.” I love the paradox in this line and how much it says about a young Dumbledore as an exceptionally gifted (and aware of it), but still naive and inexperienced man. He believes he knows what he's talking about, but he has no idea. Not yet.

I pretty much never write Albus and this is the first time I've even attempted a young Albus so I'm glad you thought he came out well :)
