No.

No, you are not allowed to do that.

You are not allowed to write believable Lockhart/Snape and make me feel sorry for them to boot!

NOT FAIR!!!!

Now excuse me while I go off and sniffle a bit.

Well done, truly! I disliked Lockhart with a passion, and yet... you've forced me to look at him in a different light. Poor Severus always seems to be unhappy in love, doesn't he? Something about the dark, Byronic hero-type about him, I suppose...

Niely done!

Thank you. Lockhart is quite an ass, but you never know if that awful exterior was hiding something else. :(

Yes! Not only did you take on this prompt, Mystery Author, but you made such wonderful use of it, too. I LOVE your Minerva and her keen eye -- she really is the perfect POV character for this story, just as sharp and perceptive as ever, but with a kind heart.

Some of my favourite bits:

- the teachers' betting game! *sniggers*
- This was the kind of lovely work that Minerva loved to throw in Severus’s face. -- Hah! They do have a competitive relationship, don't they?
- “You were practically- You might as well have ripped off his trousers and buggered him right there.” -- And Severus's response is brilliant.
- Severus smiled at this, his lips turning up. “A shame,” he said. “I would have admired the effort.” -- Lol!

Thank you so much, Mystery Author! :-)

I'm so glad you liked it!

When I saw the pairing, I really wanted to tackle it, but I didn't want to treat them as a crack pairing. But then I saw the bit about relationships from outsiders' point of view, and it all just came together.

You just know that the teachers would use something like that to pass the time, and Minerva and Severus cannot help their snarky relationship.

Again, I am so happy you liked it. :)

Wonderful interactions amongst the characters. I love how you took canon and re-interpreted it in a very new way. I appreciate the fact that this is an 'adult' story as well, focusing on the older characters and making them real, not falling back on caricatures.

Great story, great take on the plot. It's an utterly believable Gilderoy you give us here - a fraud till the very end.

And your Minerva is beautifully IC. As is Severus.

You might as well have ripped off his trousers and buggered him right there.”

Severus raised his eyebrows and gently extracted himself from between her and the
wall. “I believe that if I done that, the children might have noticed.”

Love those!
