Pansy opened the oven to check the temperature of the Shepherd's Pie she was currently baking. Looking at the number, she closed the oven door. It was nearly done and should be finished by the time Ron returned home from work.
The two of them had gotten into a huge row the night before, and Ron had left earlier than usual this morning to avoid her. She felt terrible for the things she had said and wanted to make it up to him. When she Flooed Molly for help, the older witch had assured her that some homemade Shepherd’s Pie would make it up to Ron. She even shared her personal recipe.
“What’s that smell?”
Whirling around, Pansy’s eyes widened when she saw Ron standing there, holding a bouquet of Calla Lilies. “You’re home early,” she murmured, glancing at the clock.
Ron gave her a sheepish grin as he shrugged. “I felt awful with how we left things, so I wanted to come home to you as soon as I could.” He moved closer and offered the bouquet. “I’m sorry, Pans.”
“No, I’m sorry,” she murmured, taking the bouquet from him. “I shouldn’t have let my jealous side out. I know you and Hermione are just friends… I just get insecure still since she was your ex, you know?” She took a deep breath. “But still, I shouldn’t have lashed out at you.”
Ron pressed a kiss to her lips. “It didn’t help that I wasn’t upfront about where I was… We both need to work on our communication. In the meantime, know that I love you more than anything.”
“I love you, too, and thank you for the flowers, they’re beautiful.” She kissed Ron lightly.
“So, what’s that delicious smell?” Ron prompted when she pulled away.
Pansy grinned. “Shepherd’s Pie, my apology gift to you.”
Ron pulled her back into his arms, kissing her firmly. While their relationship wasn’t perfect, it worked for the two of them.
