Well, I really don't want to forego art, BUT when claims first went up I knew my fic was not gonna be on anyone's shortlist and in the midst of bemoaning this to my best friend she immediately declared she'd do my art, so I do have a back-up. My biggest concern right now is whether or not this round will definitely go ahead.
Btw, congrats on the job. Not so much on the headache involved in switching jobs though, lol.
Well, I kind of figured it would be to each their own. If you didn't want to bother with art then you can go artless. If you really want art, you can ask around yourself (like you) and if you had something envisioned, you could do your art yourself. I'm considering doing a mix (but no cover art) for myself, but I might go artless just because of how little free time I have now.
It kind of makes sense though, if you think about it. Because you know your fandom so you'd know who could do art for it. Since these are rare fandoms/pairings, etc., general promotions won't really hit the people they need to, if that makes sense.
That's a real shame, though I was worried that it might happen...one of the last BBs I did, I didn't get art for as it has a rare pairing, and this one is rare fandom and pairing so I was in for the double whammy. Plus "The Following" fandom is not strong on LJ!
I've put a note on my LJ, just in case and I'd be happy enough to try doing my own art, it's just a matter of time for me - when were you thinking of going live with it? I've got a fairy manic fortnight ahead of me and would be hard pressed to get anything done in that time space.
I'm also fine on going without art; it's happened before and like I said, I was half expecting it (damn my pessimistic nature!) Whatever you think best yourself, really...thank you so much for running this challenge and the work you put in, I'm sorry for your sake that it turned out this way!
You know, I'm not sure. I guess I was thinking of sticking with the schedule since authors have been counting on that to plan out and time their fic. I wouldn't want anyone to feel rushed or overwhelmed by moving up dates. So you would still have until April 30th to get your fic in... and do your own art, if you so choose. Although, technically, you will really have until your post date to get everything to 100%. So if you picked a later post date, you would have more time to work on it
( ... )
Ok, see I lost track of dates but April 30th is totally doable! I think I finished my first draft fairly early and then forgot about it so no problem, I'll do my own!
I'm kinda hemming and hawing on what to do here. So you need the finished fic in by April 30 and the FINiSHED art or can the art be a draft? Can the fic be a final draft that's still being polished up or do you need the final published one?
Ideally speaking I need the final for both. That being said, in reality, you really have until your chosen post date for everything to become finalized and polished and whatnot (for both fic and art).
