Let's just hope it stays a movie and doesn't get a spinoff series. We saw how well continuity was handled in Star Trek: Enterprise and that was with trained, adult officers. The last thing we need is Star Trek: Stardate 90210. Remember that ancient race that seeded all humanoid life in the galaxy? (see TNG: "The Chase") Well, as it turns out, they're all just a bunch of Kirk's kids from his early years of time travel adventures. And seriously, what are they going to do about Sulu? It's a nightmare waiting to happen. In the name of Majel Barrett, someone stop the franchise before it's too late!

Anyway. I think the Batman prequel went well. But so many have failed. Going to be a fan forever, but I've learned to accept disheartenment.
