Lazarus Risen - Part Two (Lazarus Ignored)

The plan was easy. Teleport with Ando and the second Mr Isaac to a safe location, and then take the second Mr Isaac to Pinehurst to get more information. He had a mission, he knew now who to stop, finally it felt like he’s found himself again. Blood was pounding in his veins; he was so excited he even forgot to push his glasses back on his nose.

The plan was simple. I couldn’t go wrong. He dropped Ando off at a café, told him to wait for him, and then he and the second Mr Isaac were in front of the Pinehurst building. It really was simple, and everything went according to plan.

Except that the plan did not involve the bare leg and arm poking out of a bush right next to the place they teleported to. Hiro spotted it first and jumped back in shock, letting go of the other man’s shoulder. Did they actually kill people here? Could it have been a dead body? Well, he reasoned it must have been, after all if that person (probably a man with all that bodily hair) was alive he would be dressed in this chilly weather… and moving. Yes, live bodies moved. This one didn’t. He felt his resolve evaporating… and quickly.

But then the second Mr Isaac had spotted the pink arm and leg, and moved swiftly to the body, too swiftly, it seemed, for Hiro to squint and stop time. And yes… he was a bit interested what the arm and leg were doing, stashed away in that bush, even though he knew he might regret it later on. He clung to his resolve firmly, after all he had to know what was going on in that place if he wanted to infiltrate the company. It sounded reasonable, and… he had to admit he was a bit morbidly curious too. Ando would be so ashamed.

The second Mr Isaac bent down and scooped the body out of the bushes, and as he lifted it up into the lamplight Hiro got his first good look at the body. It was pale and sported all of the assorted limbs of a healthy body, although the man’s chest was smeared with blood, which glittered darkly in the artificial lights. A blonde head lolled forward as the second Mr Isaac got a better grip on the body, and Hiro let out an unmanly squeak.

“Kensei?” He whispered, quite stunned. “Kensei?” He yelled when no answer or twitch came, and he practically flew there, heart in his throat, happy that the man was found and terrified knowing that something was really really wrong with the limp body.

As soon as he got a close view he saw that something was indeed very wrong. The gash on Kensei’s chest seemed deep and fresh, ample amount of blood covering the man’s torso. Also, the blood was already cloying, but the gash showed no sign of healing. He dipped his right index finger in the blood, slowly touching the side of the gash, softly poking it in bewilderment, trying to understand why it did not just up and disappear.

He stood like that until the other man had enough and lowered Kensei’s unmoving body to the ground. He touched the side of his neck and nodded to Hiro.

“He is alive, but not well.”

Hiro bent down, staring at the slack features. He sighed then, and turned to his companion. “Would he be able to move on his own?”

“I don’t think so.” The tall man shrugged, and made a move to scoop the body up again, but Hiro put his hand on his arm to stop it.

In fact, Hiro looked more resolved by the minute.

“Do you think he’d die in an hour?”

“No, he will not.” Was all the man said with a disapproving frown on his face.

“Leave it there. He can wait.”
