*cries*

Dammit, I was so hoping that Nixon would get to see him in the window... or even that they could steal a final kiss... but it's how it had to be, isn't it? :(

This is magnificent - wrenching, beautiful, sad. I found I'd stopped breathing a couple of times.

I loved Dick's recurring dream; and I adore his mom. She's wonderful, and so understanding.

*cries some more*

Thanks :) Sadly so, but yes. I couldn't write anything else without getting a "nope-that's-wrong" signal from my gut - my main writing tool, I have to say. ^_^; First write Nix saw him in the rearview mirror, then Dick caught up with him, but I think real a real lick of tragedy makes for better contrast.

And everyone was kind of picking on them (or at least Nix) all summer, so Dick's mom is his biggest cheerleader :) The ending... hopefully happy. I'll have to consult my gut.

I know exactly what you mean - I go by gut myself. I can't count the number of times I thought I've known which way a fic would go until I started writing it.

I really do love Dick's mom - she's lovely, and it's wonderful to see someone who just so fully loves her son that what she wants is for him to be happy, and damn the rest.

And a happy ending can be really broad - they can both be happily married, find each other years later, not be lovers but be the best of the friends. I'd consider that happy. And considering I've just used that word four times in three sentences, I'll stop rambling and just again tell you how damn wonderful this whole series is. *LOVES*

Make that a *double hug* with me, too.

Thanks! If you're depressed just reading the title, I guess I've done my job. :)
