I think I have been overestimating the intelligence of people all my life. I suppose I have been living in bubbles this whole time. when people are phenomenally stupid or devoid of basic manners it doesnt make me feel superior, it makes me exasperated with others, "this is the bottom of the barrel and you couldn't even make that?"
that's why i never read comments on anything or are a part of any online philosophical discussion groups because everyone has the freedom to be as stupid and mean as they wish with no repercussions whatsoever. if they don't like what someone is saying, they can just not read it. that's a huge reason the internet gives me the creeps, it's completely unrealistic. in real life there are so many things people would get smacked for or more likely would never have the audacity to say to someone's face, there is so little accountability in our culture and especially not on the internet.
