I know I will not be finished learning or growing by the time I finish this life, and not being allowed to explore and learn on my own, just being plunked into paradise...I'd feel a bit cheatedI believe in a heavenly afterlife, but I definitely see it as still learning and growing, just in a different way. I think of it as the same as this life would be if we could all see spiritual truth, you know, really SEE each other and understand things. I believe now we see as through a dark glass -- but then we will know fully and be fully known (which I do believe is possible in physicality but very difficult and rare). ;-) And I also believe in reincarnation -- that we have the choice to come here (or to other planets!) to have a class in physicality, but we can also choose to create/learn in the Beyond, or even to be spiritual helpers to people who are currently studying physicality. And I think that plenty of spirits never physically incarnate -- that we who do are the brave ones (or the impatient ones who wanna grow FAST, haha
( ... )
I think there is a plane of existence that our souls visit in between incarnations (sort of the "life between lives" theory) where we enter a state of greater knowledge than we are capable of during physical incarnation. We're aware of our past incarnations, reflect on new lessons learned, and choose which existence to enter into next. I think some people might call that a "heavenly afterlife," and it is in itself a form of learning a growing, simply because it's where we can turn all of our incarnate lessons into a cohesive learning experience. It sort of allows us to compile everything, and come to the truest conclusions from our experiences. I just don't think we're able to evolve beyond those lessons we've already learned in that state of being, and that's why we continue to return to physical life.

And to expand on the whole afterlife thing:
