In response to LJ Idol Topic 1: Saying Goodbye:I've heard parents lament how they said goodbye to their youth when they had children. That's a common grievance attached to parenting - that you give up all the freedoms associated with a carefree youth ( Read more... )

I love how you chose to apply the given topic in this way. I looked at a few other responses at random and they were all about death. I'm sorry if I'm being insensitive but how unoriginal!

Thank you. :-) I decided "sad" was definately not the way I wanted to start of the competition. Plus, it's hard to write coherantly when you're crying. I'm glad this approach worked.

I knoew, before reading any of the entries, that I wasn't going to write about deat as well. I am a positive type of person, and figured the advice of sharing how we all need to say, "see you later" instead of "good-bye" was warranted. Your approach to saying "good-bye" was eloquent, and a different style to choose from. I realy enjoyed reading this one. As I always say, different strokes for different folks. Everyone's perspectives are going to vary. Good luck to you!

Thank you very much for the compliment. I think that some people did some great entries on death and loss, but I must admit I just connect more with a positive vibe in writing. I've cried enough sad tears in my life, I'd like to get to work on the happy stuff now. :-)

Great post. I really appreciated your insight into parenting, not that I am a parent or likely to be one in the near future, but three of my closest friends are expecting. Within days of each other. If they lived in the same place, I'd be screaming about conspiracy theories. *lol*

Wow, within days? That's insane! I felt lucky to have a friend who was within two months of my pregnancy timeline.

And thank you. :-)
