Pounding Us Out of the Place

Jul 01, 2008 15:04

After an unusually difficult time of getting the Boy to sleep, the incessant stomping and pounding upstairs picked up. He continues to sleep, but I've started looking at places without upstairs neighbors a tad closer to work. I'll miss our beach and our laundry machines, but other than that, this place can go eat ass.

alameda, moving, stompers

If we have our own washer and dryer, then I don't really care about losing our machines. And you work at the freaking beach so who cares about the Alameda one that has all kinds of oil and bacteria washing up???

Yeah, but pelicans right out the door ... but I can't kid myself. We could stay in Alameda, but in a house or duplex or the ground floor of a small building. I would miss our daycare if we left the island, but I don't see much else keeping us in the east bay at these prices.

Oh, and compared to you, I have no right to complain when it comes to neighbors; mine just do what little it takes to push me over the edge. But consider this: anywhere else I ever lived, if I realized I forgot something when I got to the bus stop or the automobile, I ran back inside and got it; here, I run run run down the block, up two flights of stairs, unlock the door, run down the hall, unlock another door, go get the forgotten item, and then reverse the entire process on the way back out. I don't mind living in a dense-ish residential area, but these big, secured-access places just don't do it for me.

I'm sorry to hear you have to put up with noisy neighbours. That's one of the worst things that living in flats or units occur.
I do hope it will be resolved sooner than later.
I live in a large complex of about 36 units and I have the noise and other issues to contend with, so you have my full sympathy.
