[OOC: So to absolutely no one's surprise, the Rani has gone over to the Master's side, and has been there pretty much since not long after the Barge crashed. He's set her up in a SWANKTASTIC research laboratory, with minions and test subjects. What follows are her morning's notes, copies of which have been delivered to the Master and his ministers ( Read more... )

[The Rani knew about Hix-Hicks, but she'd been avoiding him, and most of the other ex-Barge residents; the reworking of their memories made them slightly disorienting to be around. Luckily her work had given her a perfectly adequate excuse to keep to herself. Unfortunately, it appeared that this state of affairs was about to change.]

Doctor Hicks. [She set down her tablet and waved away the assistant who was bent over something unpleasant-looking on a dissecting tray.] What is it?

[He looked decidedly odd without the beard, she thought.]

[The Rani gave him a narrow look.] When the necropsies are complete-yes, then we will need to have the corpses removed. But not before.

[She tried to remember what she'd heard about this beardless version of Hix.] How exactly do you mean to execute this disposal? Incineration?

The Minister of Surveillance was rather interested in the project that the Rani was doing concerning neurotoxins. She was, at the moment, considering making an attempt on the life of the Minister of Enforcement, because he was a raging git. Killing him with a weapon was unheard of was probably the best way to go about doing it, and new weapons were always good. Besides, Martha was curious about this woman whom the Master had brought aboard to work with them. It was always in a minister's best interest to know when new and important people came aboard, especially people like this.

Her steps were quick and purposeful, accented by the strict posture and her hands clasped behind the blue suit she was wearing.

The Rani was bent over a microscope, examining a sample of tissue taken from the lungs of the late U-1254-ST, and didn't look up at the sound of the sharp footsteps. "What is it?" she asked sharply, hoping that whoever it was would simply state their piece go away.

"I was wondering if you had a moment?" Martha's voice was soft and pleasant, but more than a little cold, especially in response to the sharpness. Her posture tightened up a bit as she watched the woman and waited expectantly. She was unused to being spoken too in a dismissive manner, and this woman's manner most definitely felt dismissive. "I'm Martha Jones," she added after a beat, "The Minister of Surveillance for our beloved Master's government." There was pride in her voice, pride over achieving her title, and holding onto it for so long.

At the sound of Martha's name, the Rani jerked upright, standing so quickly that she nearly hit her head on the gooseneck lamp on her worktable.

"Martha Jones." She knew, of course; the Master had told her, but actually seeing her sometime warden in the flesh like this was another matter. She took half a step back, momentarily unable to keep the surprise from her face, but she quickly composed herself and cleared her throat. "Excuse me; Minister Jones. I have heard your name, of course. What can I do for you?"

You've made fast work of the freaks. Would you like my men to round up some more?

I would certainly not turn down any further test stock.

The mutants in particular are especially interesting. What have you introduced in the soil and water here, anyway?
