Episode 157 - A Zeo Beginning Part 2

Nov 06, 2010 10:47

We didn't talk about the opening theme last time, did we? Nope. Okay, opening theme. I like the Zeo theme. It gets stuck in my head a lot. I mean, we haven't quite lost the go go power rangers yet, and I will sulk like crazy when it happened. So, theme song. Still acceptable ( Read more... )

Billy we all love you!!! This episode was a bit underwhelming for me. I do like the theme song but the suits are just not good. Seeing Tommy in red still bugs because it just doesn't fit him for some reason, he was best as the unique ranger not the straightlaced red ranger. Zeo red was my least favorite Tommy form.

*Tiny Rant* The looking back at the Mighty Morphin suits. AGAIN why did the focus on Katherine so much? She wore the suit a grand total of 8 times! How about Billy who was the only blue ranger? Tommy who was the only white ranger? yes she is pretty we get it Grr.*tiny rant over*

The command chamber is pretty neat, Plus the bloopers are awesome! Tanya kicks ass in her first morphed fight. Love her!

Aw, man I'm a bit torn over this, because, yeah, this is another example of let's have a close-up of the prettiest person in the room, whether the scene calls for it or not," which I usually detest, but Catherine Sutherland totally rocked that moment, and that scene is so excellent that I'll forgive it.

I think after having her be the one to say "I'm going to miss her" about Aisha and now giving her that shot to. It felt a bit insulting to the rangers that had been around for alot longer. The ones that had a more poignant bond to the powers and Aisha, then Katherine who had been around a few months at most. Plus I had to laugh at how they were all scuffed up and dirty but then they morphed and they were all perfectly made-up again. Got to love that morphing side-effect!

I always thought Tommy or Billy were the prettiest! LOL

This episode features one of my favorite moments from the show. And it's such a great example of doing everything right when transitioning powers/seasons that it makes the fuckery in Turbo even more unforgivable.

Billy just kills me in this episode, and I love that despite the behind-the-scenes crap that took place, he still gives one of the best performances ever. His sweet speech to Tanya, and his brief regretful sigh as Rocky receives his powers...

The Rangers turning around to look at their old suits and realizing that that era is over. It's one of my favorite moments in the entire series. *tearbending*

Poor Rangers, they all need to go shopping for new clothes.Or maybe she'll save some money by raiding Aisha's closet ( ... )

Billy was so wonderful, I love him SO MUCH.

That is an AMAZING moment. Oh, SHOW. Way to break my heart.

We do not discuss the baggy green sweaters. At least until he starts wearing them and I start ranting about them in the recaps.

What I never liked about the scene with Billy "handing over his powers" was that...they were never his to begin with. That particular shard of the Zeo Crystal belonged to Aisha, and she was the one who gave it to Tanya. So even if Aisha had come back, she still would've been the Yellow Ranger, and Billy would still have been the odd man out.

Because of all of this, my personal head-canon is that the line Billy actually says to Tanya in the episode itself is a big fat lie just to make her feel more welcome in the team and also sound not nearly as upset about not having powers anymore.

Regardless, I still adore the whole scene in which the Rangers get their new powers, and then Zordon gives that awesome speech about how it's a new era as the theme starts up and you see the images of the MMPR suits along the wall. There's just something I find so incredibly moving about it.

Seriously.

I would totally read the AU where Aisha did come back. That fic should exist.

Such a good scene, all of it.

I like that they do bring up the Unite Alliance of Evil given that is a magor plot point later on.

Because having a backup plan is worrying? I... fail to see the logic in that.

It is logical because you only have a back up if your first whatever may fail. And Kat even said she thought the Command Center was the one place that Rita and Zedd couldn’t reach. By telling the Rangers that they have a backup Command Center they would be telling them that Rita and Zedd could take out the Command Center. And since only Billy and Tommy have ever seen the Command Center be attacked (The Green Ranger) they would be the only ones that already think it could be. So telling them others would worry them by pointing this out to them

But you can never have too many plans! Even as a just in case thing!

I'm trying to make Power Rangers sound logical, I can only do so much here I know it doesn't really work but...

I just noticed...the United Alliance of Evil have the same initials as the United Arab Emirates. I'm...just going to write that off as a coincidence.

Barbara Goodson won't lack work this season. She is pulling double duty as Prince Sprocket and Orbus. Not a bad boy voice for the former, she should use it more often.

Kind Mondo is played by the Masked Rider's adoptive dad, actor David Stenstrom.

Queen Machina is played by Family Guy's Lois, actress Alex Borstein.
