Episode 153 - Sowing the Seeds of Evil

How did I get the Tommy episode? Whatever, we're still in stereotype land.

The plot.

IN ANGEL GROVE: Billy builds Cestro a shower. Tengas show up and destroy the shower. Billy fights unmorphed and is really pretty. Cestro tells Billy about the Hydro Hog, the Emperor of the Dark Water. Zedd and Rita decide to bring the Hydro Hog to Earth. Billy ( Read more... )

season 3: fish planet, accent fail, centered on: tommy, centered on: kat, annoying children, time travel, 4.5 fish, rage inducing, prophecy

At least now we know we can blame ALL the earthquakes in Angel Grove on Tommy! Stupid him and following his heart all the darn time. He'll destroy that city if he's not careful. :P

Kat's quest is one of the most incomprehensible things that's ever happened on Power Rangers, and that's really saying a lot.

Hilarious recap, though. :)

I started it. >_>

As for the recap itself...I kind of interpreted the Teen!Kat and Old!Kat in this episode as merely being unrelated individuals who just happened to look like her, or are even relatives in some fashion.

But Tommy's just drove me up the wall because of the massive culture!fail going on there. It was probably the worst of them all, in my opinion. They weren't even trying to get things right; it was just a bunch of Native American stereotypes strung together, hoping things would make sense.

Yeah...can you tell that this wasn't one of my favorite episodes of this story arc?

See, I would believe that if Teen!Kat hadn't vanished. The fact that she vanished in pink light made it... yeah. :-/

See, I actually like the idea of Kat's quest, with the sneaky (for PR) twist on what she's actually supposed to do. There are many problems with it, of course, the two major ones being A.) it makes no sense in context with the other quests, and B.) it's so not appropriate for Kat. The idea is that only a person willing to give up the crystal to help someone is worthy of said crystal, which I really like, but this is kinda Kat's strength and of course she's going to pass the test, and why is Kat getting this test.

Don't mind me. I think the quests would have been so much epically better if they'd left out all the Ridiculous Stereotypes of the Ancient History Kind and had them each face/defeat their weaknesses. I wanted this even more when I realized that they kinda did indirectly do it with Tommy because he doesn't trust himself and his judgment after the Evil Green Ranger stuff, so he's presented with a situation where he has to. And if they'd explicitly done this with all of them it could have been not only awesome but also ( ... )

I really wish it had been an each of them must defeat their weaknesses thing. That is pretty much my favorite thing ever. Well, one of my favorite things ever, anyway.

See I would have loved if that was actually "future" Kat, that would have been a nice twist and exactly what I thought when I first saw this episode. but in the "A Season to Remember" we see Old Kat looking vastly different( bigger and with a bad hairdo plus the generic old person glasses) and married to Tommy. Damn that episode Grr. Plus their older grandson came off like a generic douchebag just saying. Back to this episode again I find it odd that all of the other rangers had the easiest quests and Rocky had to go into a volcano!

Yes the Timetravel is bullshit! They would all come back at the same time it doesn't matter who finished faster. I mean my X-box Buffy game has that figured out and I got it for $9.99!

Billy fails for jumping right into the path of the broken shower. "I know, I'm gonna stop it from hurting the ground by having it land on ME instead." But then again, that's nothing compared to what he does next episode.

As part Native American, I've always been kinda partial to Tommy's quest. I think because my dad and grandparents always talked about that part of my heritage, so it was nice to see that incorporated into my favorite show. Although, Rocky's is still the best for climbing into a volcano.

Tommy so used his leeching powers to steal Trueheart's earthquake powers!
I've developed this headcanon that Tommy has no actually personality, and just sorta copies the personalities of those around him. Or he just forgot it. ;)

Oh, Billy! ♥

Rocky is awesome for climbing into the volcano. He had the best quest.

(I wonder how much input JDF had into the quest and how the storyline was done, actually.)
