New year

Jan 03, 2012 09:17

The year has gotten off to a good start with the University of Oregon's first Rose Bowl victory since 1917. Take that, Cubs fans! I watched the game with Andy and Carrie, who were rooting for Wisconsin, but I think Chunga has survived the conflict.

Oh yeah, and I'm really happy with the new issue of Chunga too. It is dispersing into the world ( Read more... )

I think I have a TV set in here, somewhere, though it might not work with the current protocols. At any rate, I didn't watch the Rose Bowl game (despite briefly thinking that we had terrible weather for it -- the kind of bright, sunny, beach-weather (almost, though there was probably a rather chilly onshore wind) with highs around 80 that causes people visiting or watching the game to think about moving to Southern California and worsenting our over-population problems) -- so thanks for the information. (I have nothing against Wisconsin (except for its Governor, I think), but quite like the idea of overturning any status that extends back to 1917.)

Note taken. Mind you, I view _Chunga_ with so much awe that writing a LoC would involve a serious challenge to my self-confidence.

Yes, the weather for the Rose Bowl was certainly a nice advertisement for Southern California. Although 80 degrees is almost *too* hot.

I'm almost sorry to hear that you find Chunga awesome. Almost!

I've enjoyed it quite a bit so far. Particularly the first sentence of your editorial -- I think it's the best first sentence you've written since your review of Le Havre. ;>

I keed, I keed.

I've read all of Coxon's trip report (and liked the parts that DIDN'T mention me) and the Joanna Russ tribute, which was very moving. By the time I got here in 1990, I think Joanna wasn't coming to Vanguard as much anymore, although I do remember a Vanguard at her house.

Well, you've got me beat there. I don't think I was ever in her house. Or maybe I was once, because I kind of remember where it was. Ish.

That's cool about U of O. Congrats on getting Chunga out, I'm happy you're happy, jealous of everyone who gets to read it before I do, and am eagerly awaiting a Chungayan visitation to my mailbox. Chungayan! I like that -- much better than Chunganian! Kwanzaanita Chungaya!

Congrats too on the not quite first anniversary of your film blog. I think it's a cool thing and you should keep hammering away. Eventually you will be widely considered an Authority, or vice versa.

Chunga hit various California mailboxes yesterday, so you should get yours in the next day or two. I hope you are pleased with the company you will find yourself in!

Regarding the blog, it would be nice to inspire conversation, but it's possible that my writing is too insular for that. Or it's possible I just haven't found a responsive audience yet.
