TAFF race

Oct 05, 2011 08:52

So Warren Buff says in his platform that he'll attend the Eastercon whether he wins or loses, and to my mind that makes it a race between Kim Kofmel and Jacqueline Monahan. What am I missing? (See PDF of ballot.)

Wait, isn't Chris Garcia still US administrator? What the hell is he doing nominating candidates? Isn't the administrator supposed to have some pretense of neutrality, just, you know, for appearances? I was uncomfortable enough with Steve Green campaigning for his candidate before the race even officially started, and before the banquet meats of his own administration's funeral had even grown cold, but having a seated administrator expressing a preference among the candidates of a race they are administering seems right out.

Oh, wait, right, Anne and Brian are it now. Never mind.

Yes, administrators come and go so quickly here. And they're so young these days!

Wellllll, Warren says he'll go to Eastercon whatever, but that's all he'll do if he doesn't win. So if you're a UK fan who isn't going to Eastercon and doesn't live in easy reach of London, I'd say there are three candidates for you to consider.

Certainly a valid perspective on the receiving end.

I don't know how much outside-London time the extra week will afford, you'd have to ask Warren.

I will write a trip report whether or not I go. And I'm not even running. So there.

I was tempted to go this year since Christina and Doug are running the fan programming (and because I want to get back to Belgium pronto), but I don't think I can swing it. Anyway, why don't you write *my* trip report whether I go or not? Huh? Huh?

Careful how you manage this. If I'm writing about you, stuff could leak out. You know, that stuff you might have done if you really were there with me when I wasn't there. But if I'm writing with you, you can just tell me what really would have happened. Much simpler.

I don't see what you didn't do there.
