A dream of vlet

Yesterday ron_drummond and I were talking about Joanna Russ, and he told me the story of how he first heard of her and of the series of important connections that followed from that. It's a great story, and I hope he writes it up. It involves Chip "Samuel R." Delany, and it got me thinking about the likelihood that Chip was also the one who, less directly, ( Read more... )

Big sigh for the daydreams of one day joining the great writers in the pantheon...

But also, dang, I wish I had a log of every book I've read. I've tried keeping spreadsheets more recently, but even then I abandon them shortly.

Do you put in a few words about the book or just list it?

No description of the book. More or less just a bibliographic entry with author, title, publisher, copyright and/or publication date.

Oh, you've maintained a Reading LIst? I did that, for a while, about 50 years ago. Recently, I've restarted it, and have (without actually counting) probably read more than a hundred books so far this year. Mostly /t/r/a/s/h/y/ trivial Historcal Mysteries, but including some s-f by Hal Clement, F.M. Busby, & other impressive writers. I have no idea what this might "prove".

I don't know what was going on with your previous comment, because I unscreened it but LJ still doesn't think it was you.

Anyway, I'd say that I envied you your reading time, but truth be told I could read more if I wanted to. I just spend my free time doing other things these days. When I want brain massage I tend to watch a trashy movie rather than read a trashy book. On the other hand, I've always got a book or three I'm working on at any given time.
