A Christmas Carol

Dec 08, 2005 23:40

A couple days ago, I was watching "A Christmas Carol" with a friend and happened to remember the very moment I realized that not all of my fellow college students had gotten in on quite the same merits as me.

Rather pointless, if vaguely amusing, anecdote, so don't expect too much from it -- I just felt like sharing )

A new vice--r(R)andom hostility.

Love the story.

Well, if it be a vice, then I will have to make it a point of pride and develop it as conscientiously as I develop all my other vices.

It's one of my personal favorites. But I meet so many who deserve it, it's hard to keep the random factor pure.

Hee! Great story.
And I totally understand the randomly hostile feelings. Some people just look annoying. ;P

Thanks. I've had some...interesting friends in my day.

And I think I'm starting to conclude that it's her smile that really gets to me -- the sort of smile that says "I have no idea why I'm smiling, but I'm glad it annoys you."

Oh, she sounds like sales clerks who really piss me off..the oh-so-sweet ones who would tell you you look fabulous, my dear! if you looked like you were wearing a sack with the coal still in it.
Makes me want to be really, really snarky to them.

I like it when you feel talkative like this. I still think of your 'Ode to the friend you walked in on and the look on his face when the girl delivered the punchline' sometimes, and then I smile.

And the clerk is probably a crazy H/Hr shipper.

Heh...I can't think about that moment without smiling like a crazy person myself.

Now I'm debating whether to just choose her aisle (I usually avoid it whenever possible) and, out of the blue, ask, "So...who do you ship?" But I think I'd find it worriesome if she actually knew what I was talking about and, you know, answered in detail.

"...but why did they name their daughter after a car?"

What? I think "Saab" is a perfectly nice name for a little girl.

Where is that reference from? It sounds familiar but....

just proves you're north of 30, and it gets worse...spreads to the postman, the video store know it all, everyone.

Rufus, nothing random about my hostility.

Oh, and Christmas Carol...the 1951 Alistair Sims version is the only one worth watching, but I'm a Canadian.

Heh. Well, I'm usually very certain about my hostility. If I don't like you, I know exactly why -- I'm pretty logical when it comes to those things. But randomness does allow for nice surprises during the day.

I'm all about the Bill Murray version. But, then, I'm from Bill Murryland.

Canadians must have a thing for Alistair Sims..I prefer it too! Although I did enjoy the Muppet version...

See I thought Random meant the fairly faithful to the original book movies. I have the Muppet one.
