I'm more shocked at the news than anything. I don't know how to feel.

You know, part of me feels like there are some ignorant people using this to be super nationalistic, but I can't help but understand why the families of people who lost folks all over the world feel a little bit of closure. Or why cities like DC and NYC might feel that way.

I'm not gonna lie, just by the sheet number of people I know whose families and friends were really affected, I mean -- it really makes me breathe easy knowing that they feel at litte bit closer to some sort of closure.

Now the "USA" chanting does make me twitch a little bit -- but at least no one is turning over cars and/or getting drunk. I haven't seen a flying beer bottle yet :)

I don't doubt that people are getting all "FUCK YEAH", but really? I don't think I'm at the point where I feel like these celebrations are excessive.

I'm not hating on people who feel closure, I'm not. Closure is important and people react to this stuff in different ways. I'm glad that this will bring some people relief too. But I'm NOT looking forward to this obnoxious wave of American nationalism because of this. I'm not proud to be an American because the CIA finally killed this asshole when there is so much other bs going on in the middle eastrn because of us and despite this man's death.

And really, most of what I saw in front of the white house looked like a bunch of white bros from georgetown and gw holding up american flags and being obnoxious.

And I hate the expectation that I SHOULD be celebrating in the streets rn, because while I'm glad that this is good for obama politically and I'm glad that people are getting closure, I just really CANNOT with really obnoxious displays of nationalism. And the racist bullshit that I've already seen is just ridiculous.

i thought you were talking about the birther issue at first as i had just got home so i hadn't heard the news, for shame. i'm reading about it on tumblr now and that mean girls post was so stupid, especially seeing as quoting mean girls is so overdone.
