So today's Hilltop brought on another bucket of fail. This time in the "He Said, She said" section, in which a girl and a guy write their perspectives on a single topic. This issue...wait for it...INTERRACIAL DATING!
Well, I guess the black man who dated my older sister wasn't disrespecting his race because he wasn't a... upstanding black male. He was a chef. So we're all cool. Excellent.
I SHALL KEEP THIS IN MIND, OBVS. I did notice a super cute black guy in my art history lecture the other day. But apparently as a white woman I shouldn't be hogging educated black men. :(
Oh my....I just..I. wow. :/ It makes me sad to read things like this. CAN'T WE ALL JUST LOVE EACH OTHER?! D:
& I go to a private college, so I see plenty of examples of "white privilege" with people whose parents could afford to pay full tuition prices and they take it as free rein to fuck around and never go to class and chill at the bars every night but when people talk to me about that stuff I'm like listen my great-grandparents immigrated to the US in 1918 from Dublin....?
Anyway, congrats on your 100%!! I wish you would join your newspaper...I'm the features editor of our school paper and I love when we get opposing viewpoints :) It's good journalism! <3
LOL at the guy for thinking it's his duty~ to make himself available to bereft black women. I understand what he's saying and respect that he respects black women, but EL OH EL.
And the girl is uh, well. Unfortunate. Ignorant on like eight different levels. Saying you only date one race or won't date ANYONE from a certain race is made of fail.
Waaaaah so stupid! I mean, race is going to be an issue when you're dating someone, and I'd be stupid to think I wouldn't get occasional comments for dating a black man. But the same thing would happen if I dated someone shorter than me, or much older than me, or more wealthy than me. Or female. Humans are annoying creatures who think they have a right to pass judgement. Idiots like that don't deserve to have their opinions broadcast.
Some people need to just stfu and not make huge issues of who dates whom.
