FWIW, it took two weeks for my first (and thus far, only) piece to get published.
As Ruth said, feature pieces are "timeless", and Post editors seem to think that means they can run them 4 weeks after the fact.
Sad thing is they're often timely now.
I've really gotta get my Solstice piece done ASAP...
