PSI chicken needs to be cooked. Basic kitchen sanitation must be maintained. Raw chicken, water splashed on surfaces etc. is assumed to contain salmonella. Not much to investigate. Current food safety recommendation is not to wash chicken because the water splashes, of course that means leaving bits or organ in the cavity so I don't follow that advise, but it has to be cooked through in any event.

Not sure what's to "investigate"? If you cook meat properly and adhere to basic hygene when dealing with meat, you won't get salmonella. Wonder what would "investigation" show - something different? Doubt it. But I suppose government beurocrates have to justify their existence.

The investigation would be to find the source in the chicken factory and clean it up.

But again, chicken is assumed to carry salmonella. much like most reptiles.

Well, I suppose the government could save money by not worrying about food contamination. Take it one further--why not stop delivering sanity water to every house? If you know its contaminated you should just take the precaution of boiling everything...
