Kind of curious thing is that of all the people I've got to know in my life that take religion very serious, Satanists are the funniest and most relaxed people so far.
I'm not really sure what their belief system is. Their 'Satan' is very different from the one portrayed by Christians so I hesitate to speculate too much.
Based on the Christian version, the Satanists might be more relaxed because they probably don't view certain kinds of fun as 'evil' the way Christians do. I would hazard to guess that recreational sex isn't 'sinful' to them, for example.
It's really a very interesting topic, especially when one grew up in a very christian area, simply because as you said one is very biased by the protrayal by the church. I wouldn't consider myself to follow one of the regular religions, so I'm neither christian nor satanic, but I studied both to be able to talk about it.
As for a more relaxing lifestyle due to a lack of restrictions, well ... recreational sex isn't sinful, but being true to the eleven rules is possibly hard too. Not impossible like the 10 commandments, but still hard, like not to give opinions or advice unless you are asked for them. What I like about them though is that it's in the foundation of their belief not to harm children and never to make any sexual advance without full consent.

I would certainly find the rule about opinions and advice difficult!
