Gorgeous, as always - that line of dialogue ("You don't slay...") was just begging for somebody to play with it. I, too, would be curious to know at what points the kisses were cut. I'd read about how shippy the original script was; I've been cursing the changes ever since.
The Hatter as written in the first draft is markedly different from what we see in the movie. I'm guessing a lot of it is Depp. When the Hatter is first introduced, the script talks about him having an intensity that makes him "very sexy." Which, I'm sorry, is not a phrase I would readily apply to Depp!Hatter. So my further guesswork is that when Depp started to outline the character, it deviated so wildly from the script that the shippiness was toned down at that point.
So very striking, I do adore this! I think my favorite line was A dressmaker's pattern for the ears, the mind, the heart. He's clothed her body, small as it now is; with as much care, he dresses her mind in the colors that suit her: compassion, striped with sympathy, hemmed in courage.
And I agree! *two* kisses cut :( I wonder if we have any hope of these showing up as outtakes or if the cuts were made before filming!?!
I am so, so glad to see you're writing for the Burton movie, because yours are among the small pool of Alice fics I read. XD This was simply marvelous- and I'm pretty much echoing everybody else on the cut kisses. WHYYYYYY, BURTON.

I don't know if it makes it better or worse to know that there were supposed to be kisses. Is the first draft of a screenplay considered canon? Hmm.
