"In early 2010, nineteen of the top staff members resigned due to mismanagement when the parent corporation, Artistic Solutions, lost its legal right to do business in California due to tax reasons."

Too bad the post in the BayCon community has comments turned off.

There will be a BayCon; Bay Area fandom has dealt with far worse problems and there has still been a convention. ConJose (cough).

That said, the proper organizational structure for a fannish convention is an IRS tax-exempt 501(c) nonprofit with a Board of Directors. I would hold up AAE, the parent of Further Confusion, as an excellent model to consider.

To quote a saying used several times by noted science fiction writer David Gerrold, itself inspired by Rabbi Hillel:

"If not us, then who? If not now, then when? If not here, then where?"

Thanks for your concern and I hope to see you at the convention.

You will. Well, no, you won';t. Most nobody at the convention knows me by this account so if you do see me, which you will (probably) you won't know it's me when you're actually seeing me.

...

Why are the comments blocked on baycon? They didn't used to be. I skimmed down and it's every post like that.
