God, I love this story... :) :) You tell it so vividly, I could practically see Kahlan lighting the candle, and the entire conversation between her and Cara is so convincing, both distrust and tension and it is completely believable when that first moment of trust happens...
And that flashback - awesome! :D :D
And I really can't wait to read more - I'm seriously hooked ;)
Thank you! I was worried that handing over the gun may seem a little rushed, especially if we're not quite sure what Cara is thinking, but Kahlan definitely saw those visions for a reason.
This is really, really intriguing. I love how western-y they all are, while still remaining true to their characters. It's always (in my experience at least) the most difficult part of AUs, and you've pulled it off rather well. Definitely looking forward to seeing where this goes :D
I have to admit, I don't do AU's too often because they're friggin' hard, but in this instance, I couldn't really resist. So relieved it's working thus far. Thank you!
Eeeee, this chapter! Cara and Kahlan staring each other down and saving each other's lives, it's awesome whatever universe they're in. Awesome characterisation. This is brilliant! :D
Heh. We must band together and proclaim our love of guns and agiels. And honestly, aren't John Marston and Cara Mason basically the same person, except you know... the boobs?
