Accidentally fell asleep in my chair, so I got very little studying for my Japanese dialogue check done. I swear this chair is too comfy sometimes. This is the third time I've fallen asleep in it for longer than an hour

*lol wasting time that should be spent getting to class replying*
I'm pretty much set on taking another semester of Japanese, an introductory Psychology course, and a Greek/Roman Mythology course. But there are a lot of interesting 3000 level sociology courses available that I haven't had time to really look at, and I want to have one in mind when I go to register tomorrow.
Those must be some super-cushy chairs there! I can never fall asleep in the chairs here. :<
Dialogue check = oral exam?
Take a media studies class! Those are seriously the best thing ever and you can write papers about things like South Park (I wrote one for my first Queer Studies course) or Metalocalypse! I seriously plan on making that my paper for my media course if I can get away with it. Don't know how many sources there are for Metalocalypse, but you'd be surprised how many academic papers there are on South Park. o_o
Actually I brought my own chair. One of those rolling computer chairs, because last year the chairs they offer us caused me so many back problems.
Basically. In the Japanese textbook they have scenarios at the beginning of every chapter designed to help reinforce the new grammar we're learning. They're split up into sections and we have to memorize one section at a time.
I took a film class last year. Loved the material; hated the professor. You wrote a paper about South Park in a Queer Studies class? Do tell.
lol, our professor basically set us free and said, "Pick a topic in the arts or in pop culture, and discuss how it relates to GLBT rights or issues."
So I, being a huge South Park fangirl back then (this was two years ago), decided, "What the hey! I'll write a paper on South Park!" My professor thought it wouldn't work, since, you know, South Park sort of has that stereotype of being all about flaming farts, young children doing ridiculously inappropriate things, and killing Kenny (occasionally by way of young children and flaming farts).
And then I wrote a twelve-page paper on how South Park actually tends to push boundaries with regards to social issues, and even underneath its fart jokes and crude humor, there is a real message underneath it all. And one of those messages is decidedly pro-LGBT rights.
I got an A+ on that paper. It remains the proudest fangirl moment of my entire university career. What that says about me, I don't know. I hope it's something good.
LJ spell-check does not recognize GLBT or LGBT as legitimate

Impressive! The closest I ever got to expressing my nerdiness is when I wrote a ten-page paper on GLBT representation in Eastern vs. Western comics for one of my seminars. My professor was surprised that I was offended at a few things, but he admitted he didn't have a reliable GLBT vantage point, what with him being a middle-age married heterosexual man. XD
