Huge Heap o' Legos (+ Clones) -- Prelim Pix

Jan 18, 2008 04:10

Given that I got multiple requests for more info about the Huge Heap o' Legos, I decided to take some quick preliminary pix so people would get an idea of what I have. The set is really a combination of Lego (maybe a third to a half) and Tyco and "tandem bricks". Most of the set is in great condition, but you can tell that a few parts here and there have been "well-loved".
There's quite enough here to keep any older kid very amused, or an appropriately inclined adult distracted for long periods of time building elaborate creations. The set is mostly weighted toward basic-style general-purpose bricks, with the addition of the sets of mostly general-purpose Technic kits. Only the smallest Technic kit is is special-purpose (a gift to me); I believe none of the other kits are designed to build a particular object (I hated that!). Except for the stuff in the Ziploc bag, which does look special-purpose.

What you see is (quick listing, not fully verified yet):
  1. Big cardboard box (upper right) of misc Legos (mostly Lego brand, I think)
  2. Smaller silver Tyco Case of Tyco & Unnamed Clone bricks (mostly non-Lego brand, I think)
  3. Larger red Tyco Case of Tyco & Unnamed Clone bricks (mostly non-Lego brand, I think)
  4. Three Lego brand Technic sets
    • Technic 8815 - Speedway Bandit - 77 pieces
    • Technic 8035 - Universal - 173 pieces
    • Technic 8055 - Universal - 191 pieces

  5. Gallon-sized Ziploc, half full, of misc specialty Clone pieces (purpose at least temporarily unknown)
  6. Big bucket of "tandem bricks" (a Clone brand), 650 pieces
  7. Misc set of instructions, probably quite incomplete
This collection was started when I was but a wee lass, added to when I was a teenager, then loaned out to my younger cousin while I was in college (with the stipulation that they be returned to me after he "outgrew" them -- I guess some people outgrow Legos!), returned with more than I loaned to him ("brick interest"), then I added some more after that.
Therefore, some of these Legos date back to the 60s, some would be early 80s (the "brick interest" from my younger cousin), some would be later 80s & maybe a bit of 90s (Technic, I think) that I added after my set was returned. These are the dates to the best of my memory.
My next step is to inventory the heap better, and weigh them. Feel free to share this info with any potentially interested folk. If I can get a good enough price (no real clue how much that'd be, yet), I'll keep this off eBay and thus the fee savings can be shared by me and whoever buys the set. Although... I see some niiiice eBay bidding wars for some of the bulk sets! I'll be pondering it. I might also decide to sell the Technic stuff separately, since it's really aimed at a different audience than the bulk general-purpose stuff.
