This one's a puzzle. It doesn't fit me any more, and besides, I haven't practiced martial arts in years. If I joined a new school, they'd probably want me to buy their own uniform. I like the look of wabi-sabi, but it's too spare. (Can you even tell someone lives there? I like organic and simple, but empty rooms give me the creeps. Liz subjects the dog to a therapeutic experience
Our German shepherd is 13 years old, over 90 in dog years, and a bit unsteady on his feet. He's arthritic, recovered from at least one small stroke, and has had some inner ear problems which seem to have affected his hearing and balance. Or possibly just his attention span got shorter, but I think he actually can't hear well on his left side. ( Read more... ) -
Apparently, the U.S. is not going to default on its loans. Or, Liz fails to do a happy dance.
So in case you've been living under a rock for the past couple months, the U.S. Congress has been aware that we're about to hit our current "debt ceiling." Which means we would not be able to borrow any more money. Went to see George RR Martin last night. After buying the large, long awaited, unreasonably expensive hardback of "A Dance with Dragons," which was the only way to get into the author event. mmm, capitalism. Oh well, at least I got a book out of it ( Read more... ) -

In which Liz takes more of a plunge
Good news: ordered a wetsuit (ye gods renting those things is fucking expensive, I should just pony up and buy one), took my bike to get inspected, and got a tire and chain replaced. Also, I found a place that fixes bikes for cheap. Only catch is, it's up in Columbia City -- an interesting if somewhat "colorful" section of town, unfortunately ( Read more... )
