Tattoo

So I've been thinking for a while that I wanted to get a Latin phrase tattooed when I turn 18. I was thinking on having it running up the outside of my right ankle, but I haven't completely decided yet.  I'd love to have script running around my wrist, but that'd be too hard to hide if I worked in certain jobs. But I digress...
Anyways, my question ( Read more... )

I like the Star Trek quote, but am curious as to why you want something in Latin?

I've gone through many, many changes in my life, and if I had tattoo'd something on myself for each stage that I thought was "permanent," I'd now look like one of those old New York City subway cars overwritten with graffiti. B^) It's nice to make a statement ... but it's nicer to be able to change when you want to without having to schedule laser treatments.

Well, it's not that I specifically want something in Latin... more just that I think it will look better (and be shorter, ha) than it'd be in English. Plus, it started when I was going to get "Odi et Amo," from a famous poem by Catullus and meaning "I hate and I love" tattooed, but I decided against it.

I want one of those phrases tattooed because I've gone through some things in my life that I've finally worked through (best friend for five years screwing me over, etc) and I feel as though I've risen to finally become the person I've always wanted to be. I feel it's worthy of being immortalized.

Also, if I do get it tattooed... I'm getting it with this new ink that comes off in one laser session instead of ten or more. Thanks for the advice, though!
