Oh, funny, Nick! Just last week I was talking to a trainer at the gym, who suggested that! I've only tried it a couple of times so far during my cardio portion, but I intend to keep it up. She gave me a 1:1 ratio, though; maybe I'll try the 2:1 mentioned in the article if this doesn't work. Thanks!
I also do weight training, and abs class and a WHOLE lot of stretching while at the gym. Not to mention steam room/ shower, getting River from Childwatch and running around with him at Kindergym (though when I do that last, we go over 2 hours).

Yeah, abs classes are for suckers, marks, and rubes. If you go crazy with HIIT training doing anything that involves the whole body, the abs will take care of themselves!

Well, to be fair to my abs class instructors, when I started doing the class I couldn't (thanks to the c-section) hardly even sit up in bed w/out using my arms, and now I can do all sorts of crazy abs tricks. I've seen a clear improvement thanks to those classes; the Berkeley Y has a wide range of "core" exercises they promote (I especially like the pilates-based ones) and hardly any of them are in the old-fashioned "crunch" category.
Yay! Especially for finishing Keaton, which I can't wait to read the revised version of.
I really have to have at least a couple weeks, to as long as a couple of months, for real distance between revisions (depending on how substantial they are). I also usually need to see it through someone else's eyes--sometimes it's enough to just send the file, and that magically provides the distance (Ernest Lehmann, I believe it was, would invariably call his producers or directors right after giving them a script draft and say, "Don't read it! I know how to fix it now!"), other times I need actual notes. But I think you have phrased all this in the most sensible way: figuring out your process is one of the most important parts of writing. xxx
