Poll: Dreamwidth???

Been wondering for a while whether or not I should resurrect my old Dreamwidth journal. I resisted before because there were still active LJ communities here for SPN, but those days seem to be over now. Btw, I'm not planning on leaving LJ, just thinking that I'd like to start using the other journal for more personal entries. We'll see

I think there are a few SPN coms over there but I haven't gone looking. I'm sure there's at least one bang that uses DW but I cant remember which one. I post there when I remember, & cross post to LJ; though as I prefer LJ's set up for creating a post I usually post on LJ first then do a block import to DW.

I was doing block imports on a weekly/monthly basis for a while, but no one ever commented over on DW, and all my friends on DW cross-post to LJ, so I kinda just stopped bothering. (Also, the YouTube embeds always break, which is annoying.)

Yeah, I think most of my friends over there use their friends feed to prompt them to come looking, and if you import the posts don't show up there.

Hrm. This, combined with Sandy's info below, has me wondering about the half-baked idea I've had for a little while to use LJ for scheduling posts, and then manually cross-post them to DW as they go live.

Whoops, meant to include that my username is just the same as here: bratfarrar. I haven't looked at my DW for ages, though, mostly because (last time I checked) DW doesn't have an option for scheduling posts, and I rely on that pretty heavily here on LJ.

I have a DW account, under the same name as here, and up until Jan 15, I was able to crosspost without any problem. Usually, I crosspost when I have a new icon set to post, but since Jan 15, I only post to LJ, since crossposting is out of the order (probably permanently, as described at length in this DW maintenance post). Besides, table codes written for LJ suddenly make a lot of trouble on DW.

As for SPN communities and such - I only know of the Team Free Will Bang who uses DW (and tumblr), but since I've been, more or less, kicked out of it for doing photo manips instead of "real" art, I only collect the links once works are posted. Apart from that, I can't remember any comms focusing on SPN.

Ah, this is good to know. I'm so rarely on the DW site at this point, I probably would've missed that announcement entirely and just been very confused the next time I went to do something over there.

I have both. Since I'm in a different fandom (Jeeves & Wooster) there is marginally more activity here, where this is none. Most people have left. I know more people at this point on DW. The only thing is that the HTML over there is borked so I write my entries here than post them over there. The cross-post has never worked for me.

A big factor is that two of my dearest fandom friends died and several others moved on from fandom. So I see very few posts on here now. DW isn't that active either, so I've been spending more time on Discord.

I crossposted everything until LJ broke things. My user name is the same in both places. For now I’m using cut and paste to be able to do it. It’s sad to see because I think it’ll drive down people using LJ even more than before.
