Heartless plushie photos

Jul 26, 2006 20:37

So, back in our early KHII mania, Lisa and I were discussing things you could make as cosplay props. I suggested that a heartless plushie would be a pretty neat thing to have. Lisa said she'd make one if I found a way to make the eyes glow.

Sounded like a pretty good challenge to me.

Lisa did a really great job with the plushie. It has a wire skeleton so it supports itself on its hind legs and holds different poses. Even with that *and* all the electrical stuff inside it, it's still surprisingly huggable. Not counting the antennae, it stands about 50 cm tall.

And here it is with the eyes switched on. We used a pair of giant LEDs I picked up at Dick Smith's, wired to a circuit board I've had sitting in a box ever since high school electronics class (never let anyone tell you that sort of old junk isn't worth hanging on to). We only just finished the thing tonight so we were stuck with artificial light for this photo, and the glowing eyes didn't show up as well as we would have liked...

...so we took this shot as well. ph34r!

EDIT: Lisa's posted some more pics up at her Devart account here and here, and some in progress pics here. And she's had so many requests for the sewing pattern now that we're trying to figure out a way of sharing it (kinda tricky, since it's a little big for people to print out; and not everyone owns their own soldering iron). The response to this thing has been fantastic. ^_^

EDIT the second: The pattern is up at long last! All the info (plus a giant pile of extra photos) can be found up here.

cosplay, kingdom hearts
