This is the kind of stuff that makes me feel like a moron compared to the rest of the fanfic writers out there. lol
I do the third person omniscient, I think, most of the time, I think. Where you can read everyone's thoughts/feelings etc. Personally, I like being able to show what's going on inside every character and that they may say one thing but think another.
I'm not really sure how to write any other way. The only other style I've played with is first person, sometimes it feels more right than third person. Which again... makes me feel totally uneducated.
Srsly, either I slept thru this stuff or it just didn't stick in my head. But then again, my contact with other writers was limited until I got on the net.
You know my advice already, just write and fix it later. Of course, that's because I'm selfishly waiting on your fic. *wink*
I'm afraid I am totally unable to help as I didn't know there was such a thing as "third person omniscient" until very recently. I went through the "let them learn by osmosis" education system in the sixties and am therefore constantly embarrassed at what I don't know and didn't know about.
The only thing I would say other than "hurry up" is that you should write something that you enjoy. If you would enjoy the challenge of writing outside your comfort zone, then go for it.

OMG, this is so what I feel like! I swear they never taught me this stuff, even in college! When I went back to school a few years ago, I felt like such a moron. I would call ralkana every day with questions like "wtf is a comma slice?". But! Even tho I didn't always know the terms and things, I did know what I was doing. So I made A's.
I think we were taught more along the lines of do it and you learn it and today there's more talk about it and hopefully you'll learn it. lol
