Last night, after getting home from dinner and karaoke with a friend, I began looking through old pictures on my computer. For the first time since getting to Japan, I allowed myself to finally flip through a folder entitled "Goodbye, Chicago," which chronicles my last two weeks in the Windy City. I've had some spectacular experiences in Chicago, all at the same time I've been attacked by a shoe salesman and yelled at by an HR executive for an MLM scam (That I didn't discover till I got there.)
The city feels incredibly bipolar to me because of the times I've had there. That's why I tend to avoid trying to move to larger cities. It's an unfair generalization, but the smaller city I live in is more accessible, liberal enough, and cheaper than being in Chicago. While some of the things I find exciting do go through Chicago, good enough things go through here that I don't miss the hassle of trying to go see the stuff I used to see in Chicago.
