As I've mentioned before, one of the things that drew me back to Japan was the folk music community here. I felt like I'd merely scratched the surface and was enthralled by what I had experienced. I've been diligently going to lessons and practicing since I got here, and though I feel like my progress is kind of slow (I've only learned 2 new songs ( Read more... )

Do you remember, forever and ever ago, at your Olaf senior recital with RLofft, the shamisen song you played and it was like a rock concert? What was the name of it? I would love to find a recording of it somewhere.

I'm 99% sure the song you're thinking of is Adohatari. Give a listen to the file above and see what you think. :3

WOW that is so awesome!!!! You are a rock star. But doesn't it kill your legs to be in seiza for a long time? How long can you sit that way?

And just curious, but where is your studio at?

(Did you ever get a cell phone, btw? My GW is wide open, if you're free and wanna get together. :D)

Oh grrrl we don't sit in seiza (thank god!) we just sit on stools. XD I have no idea how long I can sit in seiza... maybe 20 minutes? :/

My studio is at Nakada, in the basement of my sensei's house.

I never did get a keitai. I went to AU and the salesman told me I'd have to come back after my gaijin card went through. I've been without one for so long now I'm not really in a great rush, but I think I'll be doing Softbank after all. (AND they told me I could get a phone w/o a gaijin card.) I'm just debating whether to get an iphone... I really want one but there are so many extra fees and junk I'm not sure it's worth it. :< Decisions, decisions. How was the new mall?

I was with Softbank for like 3 years.... they were ok. The prices are about the same but I think my current provider (AU)'s reception is a little bit better. Plus RooG is also AU so it's a little bit cheaper to mail him.

As for the iPhone... I've heard lots about it, good and bad. So I can't really say! :/

The mall was ok... not very exciting, but the supermarket and bookstore were nice. ;)
