Dearest mother,

It's been days. Koyama and I have grown used to each other already, but there are still some complications to my stay here. His cat, Nyanta, is apparently a frequent visitor in my room, and I can't help but throw anything I see at it just to scat. I'm terribly allergic to cats, you know that. Koyama still isn't used to having a new guest around the apartment, and sometimes forgets that I'm even a tenant. One time he entered my room to turn the lights out for the night, thinking no one was inside. I was, in fact, changing out of my clothes, and he caught me down to nothing. He's still apologizing until now.
We eat breakfast in the morning together, and might I say he's a wonderful cook, so there's no trouble in my eating; I eat everything that is on my plate (of course they don't use bowls here, and it's difficult to use a fork and knife instead of chopsticks, but I've gotten used to it).
The rest of the day is normally spent like so: I stay in my room and read, try to learn a bit more about this foreign new language (I learned that sorry is entschuldigung but said as ent-shool-dig-oong, I hear Koyama say it often because of the above incident. What a vulgar language to learn, mother), and occasionally think of what to write to you. On good days, I go out and try to familarize myself with the town.
Koyama mostly stays inside for reasons I dare not ask, but am curious of. I think it's mostly business, he being the superintendent of the apartment, but I can't say for sure. On days I decide to go out and stroll, I pass him in the corridor and find him playing with a young girl of three. One of the tenants.
Other than that, I never really know who he is. He's such a chatty person, but all his stories never really tell me so much who he is, just what kind of life he lives. He's just like a stranger I'm used to living. Don't be alarmed, he's an entirely good and well-mannered stranger, not to mention a childish one. Maybe not a stranger, but an acquaintance. Yes.
I shall write again. Take care of yourself, and of father.

PS. I'm still waiting. Has Kaede returned? Please continue to send her and her parents my regards.
