She had walked through that certain hallway for years already. The hallway itself was located in one corner on the third floor of the building that had became her second home for decades-or so at least how it seemed. In ordinary occasions, she would just walk with carefree steps and just flew as fast as she could towards the practice room at the end of the hallway, hoping that the practice session would end sooner so she could still grab a sandwich before heading to another practice room for another practice session.
But that day wasn’t just any other day or an ordinary occasion.
She gulped nervously-the guitar that slung over her shoulder felt slightly heavier each time she took a step closer towards the said practice room.
Why am I feeling like this? She silently questioned, even though she already knew the answer.
It was him. It was always because of him.
No matter how many times she had done this kind of project with him-or even merely had simple interactions such exchanging smile or greeting in the corridors-there was always this familiar giddiness and uneasiness she felt. Was it because of pure respect as a hoobae to sunbae? Or was it probably something more than that?
She blushed at the thought before shaking her head and walked a bit faster. Before she knew it, the door had arrived before her-wait, I was the one who approached the door, not the otherwise, don’t be silly, Seo Joohyun-and she had her hand momentarily floating above the door knob, hesitating.
Are you coming in or not? This isn’t the right time to act like a teenager! She sighed and opened the door.
He was already sitting on the chair, hands twirling his phone. Upon seeing her, he immediately shot her his wide signature grin.
“You’re late,” he commented.
Seohyun couldn’t refrain from smiling and her whole body suddenly felt lighter-probably one of those inexplicable effects his presence had on her. “Are you sure it’s not you who came a little bit too early, Oppa?”
“Nope,” he glanced at his watch, “I don’t have schedule or practice session this morning. But your practice session supposedly ended about 20 minutes ago and I know very well that it only takes 10 minutes to go here from your practice room. In short, you are late, Seo Joohyun.”
“How do you know about our schedule?”
He smirked. “It isn’t hard to get such information, at least for Cho Kyuhyun.”
“Oh, really!” Why is it so easy to laugh whenever she was with him?
The long silence that followed after wasn’t really an awkward one, but it wasn’t really comfortable either. It was always like this, both of them standing in front of each other, not knowing what to do or say, only fidgeting and blushing on their own. Even so, the chemistry was undeniably there, hanging in the air around them.
And yet both of them are still too hesitant to openly admit it.
A full 15 seconds had passed when he suddenly moved forward and reached out to her. She immediately stifled, making him chuckled.
“Hey, relax.” Turned out he just wanted to take the guitar off her shoulder and put it on the chair next to him.
“So,” he cleared his throat.
“So?”
“Here we go again.”
“We’re together at this again,” she agreed.
“Are you wondering why they make us do it again?”
“No,” she answered honestly. “I’m getting used to it, anyway.”
“I hope it doesn’t mean you dislike it.”
Of course not, why would I? But she only laughed at his words instead of saying it out loud.
“This means one thing,” he closed the distance between them by stepping forward and Seohyun could feel her heartbeat fastened.
“What is it?” her reply came in a soft whisper.
Kyuhyun gently took her hand in his and for a second she really thought she would fall right there and then for her knees felt weak all of a sudden. “There will be more of this.”
His hand felt warmer than she could remember and on the next second she found herself grasping back at it with the same tenderness, not wanting to let it go. “I hope this also doesn’t mean you dislike it, Oppa.”
He didn’t answer but from the smile that radiated from his eyes and lips she knew that he was feeling the same way as her, that whatever this beautiful feeling she had inside her for him was mutual.
“So … shall we start practicing now?”
A/N: I wrote this in such a short time, so please don't expect anything good. you know how I'm never too fond of writing a non-AU story-especially the one which is based on real events-but I just felt that I had to write something to celebrate their comeback stage, LOL. and this short drabble is the only thing I could think of, I hope it's not too bad for your liking.
