Some people peek from behind the pages of their journal, careful to reveal more than a glimpse of themselves. What their readers learn extends beyond the journal’s content, but not enough to create an accurate image, one that reflects the author more than it does the reader’s impressions. Others cautiously approach increasingly private ( Read more... )

What does interesting mean anyways? That's one of those vague meanings that can either be good or bad. Is it interesting as in, uh yea ew its weird, or is it interesting like wow thats awesomely interesting?

You are right, it could be interpreted in several ways. I thought it was awesomely interesting - I liked the thought process behind it :).

I agree - we see others through the prism of our personal experience and so the view will always be distorted.

On the other hand, you can flip what you are saying. Using reflections as an analogy - without mirrors, you wouldn't know what you look like, and to an extent people around you serve as mirrors for yourself. You will never gain an accurate perspective of your inner world without seeing a few of the others', and see how you compare. And while it's true that we interpret our preconceptions into our views of others, but we also incorporate the conceptions of others into ourselves, and in a sense, we would be blind without them.

yeah the reverse is true as well- feedback from others helps us define ourselves, but largely in hindsight I think (other people's impressions reveal who we've become but formative factors are more internal).

anyway, your point and mine aren't mutually exclusive so we can be friends... i'm working on my part of the deal :)

I wouldn't mind a friend like you ... you're ... not bad. But how do you feel about altar boys? That's the question.

Honestly, alter boys and I don't really get along anymore. Long story.

omg that sounds like a totally good idea, we could all three have a total mind fuck.
Oh and Rimma's livejournal is by far the best one on here- perfect mix of political comment, humor, insights to Rimma's fun day, etc- unlike other journals I've read with pages and pages of pointless political banter and stuff that happened in their day which i could give two shits about! You know who you are!
