McGonagall.

Yesterday I was linked to a very interesting essay on Kia/serraasuka's journal theorising Minerva McGonagall as a Death Eater. I sort of instantly dismissed it in my mind - said something like 'the word useless is relative, rah rah rah' which I STILL do believe. I mean, almost anything is relative is it not ( Read more... )

Heh... it's really only because I think everyone else would find this journal a bore of a bore (and I theirs) if they weren't a HP follower. It's kind of so pivotal to my life (the person who has played the main role in helping me through the worst part of my life is a fictional character and not many people understand something like that ;P) that I have deep trouble friending people (and holding mutual interest with them) who don't have at least some love for the Potterverse. I always said I was a severely deprived child.

But it's great. I hate the majority of HP fans, but in communities it's good to pick and choose the clever ones and the ones who I can tell have a deeper love for it. S'why you're here, of course ;)

And JKR also covered up the fact that Marcus Flint "repeated" a year at Hogwarts - for which I am certain was a mistake on her part but ended up in a "he was too stupid to graduate" excuse.

I didn't really mean to sound like I actually believed it. Just that I hoped that McGonagall would reveal something interesting to us. I still find very compelling the inverse mirror statement, regardless if she turns out evil (which I do doubt) or not. My mind tends to stretch beyond the page a tad (take, for example, my fascination with Professor Sinistra, who makes hardly any appearance in the canon but who is one of my favourite characters because of the clues JKR gave me - in canon and in interviews), and will probably stay there. Either that or be written in my fics or essays, which are my ways of exploring that world without the annoying restraint of Harry's conscious.

The theory is still extremely thought provoking.
