I may be wrong, but I thought that the reason that House didn't withhold from the husband that she had had an abortion was to further establish how little the guy knew his wife.

When it comes to entertainment, low expectatons can be awesome. My two favourite movies, Contact and Big Fish, had me expecting nothing. It's easy for one's expectations to be exceeded when ones doesn't have any.
