debate on access to watersimon_laman09June 29 2009, 12:45:30 UTC
The issue of access to water is the subject of our debate in November.
Earthwatch Debate: From Tsunami to Drought
Thursday 19th November, 7.00pm - 9.00pm at the Royal Geographical Society, 1 Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AR
Chaired by award winning broadcaster Andrea Catherwood.
Three experts will be joined by an enterprising member of the public to present solutions to the looming crisis of access to water for drinking and sanitation. Our speakers will then be interrogated by a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style panel before you, the audience, cast the deciding vote.

Hi Grace,
It is terrific to hear that in Bundelkhand of Madhya Pradesh, coasts of Andhra and the forests of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have experienced severe acute water shortages. It is heartening to note that Gujjars are dying in hot and dusty Rajasthan. It is pathetic that leaving all other work women in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district are forced to walk many kilometres daily to get a pot of water.
My question to the politicians is why are not they take up projects to divert the river water from Ganges to these water scarcity region.
