assessment of damages

My baby is almost a month old and comparison with some other babies his age leads me to conclude that

a) he is a giant - longer and fatter than most children his age. (He has nearly outgrown his Moses basket, and he is filling out 3-6 month clothes very comfortably indeed).

b) also beating them in screaming the house down. Other children, normal ( Read more... )

Maybe they're in a conspiracy. :)

I'm glad to know you're doing better. Hang in there. :) Also, when you're strong and fine and up and about more - if you want to meet at some point let me know.

Neither of ours would lie quietly by themselves while awake.

Does he let you sit down while you're cuddling him?

Thomas went through a stage of only being happy if we were cuddling him while standing up. It was uncanny - as though he had a built in altimeter.

That is soo sooo comforting to hear. Thank you.

Same with this one. Especially if the person who is standing happens to be walking then instant zip it. But because he's a heavy bugger and I'm a cruel parent who likes to assert my will I'm refusing to do this and instead do a lot of cuddling while sitting - he cries and cries but gives up eventually. We do have a compromise though - he's happy to be quiet if the person holding him is sitting and bouncing on one of those big exercise balls.

Sorry about the screaming - I know it's a "no-no" with some parents but have you considered a pacifier? I was dead against them but I got one that is "nipple shaped" and she still breast fed (whilst I was still breast feeding) without being confused and she stopped crying all the time. People said that she would have a hard time stopping with it but she doesn't suck on them anymore.

Hehehe, we started out all 'let's not buy any pacifiers because it's not good to use them!' only to acquire 6 within the first week. I do use them when I'm quite tired and the baby is particularly unsettled but trying not to use them too much in case he gets addicted to them.

I should have said, for 0-3 months. But i think i left it at my mum's. I shall turn her house upside down next weekend, and then send it to you. You can frame it *grins*
