Why are 90s dramas always the most risque? I saw more skin in this one than like all of last year's dramas combined.

You're right about that. Maybe the stuff that's coming out now is sort of... genre specific so sex isn't so easy to put into (saying that sounds so wrong here lol). The 90s big drama boom was all about relationships and stuff and that came across.

I mean, look at Kimura. Yeah, age might have something to do with the fact that during the 90s he was in relationship based dramas but the last few dramas he's done has seen the male/female thing pushed to one side.

And to be honest, i can't see the younger actors/actresses doing the same sort of material that happened in the 90s. Maybe Jin/Kame/Pi et all just don't have the same sort of ability to sell these (i'll use the word again) relationships as well as the older actors were able to.

No, I think that makes sense. I wonder if Japanese society hasn't become more hyper-conservative too, with all this "pure" stuff and the squeaky clean image Johnny demands of his idols. Back in the day Nagase could play a sex addict and Kimura could bang anything with a pulse, but lately they get, what, one kiss per drama?
