I got the chance to interview Emilie Autumn at her show in Antwerp on April 24th '09. In this lovely interview she tells us a lot about herself, her interests, her history and her music. I loved doing it and love watching it, and I hope you do too.

Amazing.

I feel like I understand a lot more now.

Me too... which is one of the reasons why I was so happy to do this. It was much more eye-opening than I ever expected... This is one of the great things of the EA fan community as well, I think.

Thank you :-) And honestly, it was great to do it and not hard at all as Emilie is a big talker, as she says so herself. She is a fascinating person who has a lot to say, and we love listening!

I found what she said about everything being somehow based on the archetypes provided by Shakespeare very interesting. It had me thinking for a very very long time.

Also, I just absolutely love your outfit in this, Evi. It's very enviable on you.
Lots of love,

Yes, that is one of the strengths of Shakespeare... Many of his characters show very universally recognisable human traits, sometimes enlarged due to the situations they find themselves in, and that is exactly what makes his plays so interesting centuries after they were first staged. Shakespeare has been called many things, but one thing he is for sure, if you ask me: a humanist in every sense of the word.
