Seriously? Twinkle?!

Guess who read House of Many Ways! I really enjoyed it. I loved the references to Castle in the Air and the few cameos. I love how the characters from Howl's Moving Castle managed to be more epically involved in this one. I digged Charmain, perhaps because as a sheltered, rude, useless nerd I can identify with her. The plot wasn't that ( Read more... )

I read the first HMC book a long time ago, but I can't remember much of anything about it. How is the rest of the series?

It's kind of YMMV, really. You have to keep in mind that while they're set in the same universe, the word sequel is a bit strong for them: the main characters in the first book are minor characters in the others. So a lot of HMC fans don't like them because they're expecting to see more Howl and Sophie and they never get enough of them. I like all books a lot but I'm not extremely picky with children fantasy.

I loved House of Many Ways! And fffff. Waif. I want a Waif so bad. ♥

I enjoyed Castle in the Air more, though. Ironically, I have the first and the third book, but not that one (which I just borrowed from a friend.)

Still, Howl's disguise - clearly abused for epic trolling. :'D

Castle in the Air is fucking awesome. This one was cute and fun, yes, but CitA had so many references and subversions to fairy tales tropes and 1001 Nights, and it was more solid as a story.

Howl is such a troll ♥ No, Charmain, I'm pretty sure Sophie is pissed about Twinkle because he's annoying and trollish and corny, not because he's hot as an adult X'D

I've only read HMC, but I want to read the other ones so badly! One day, I will have to find them and read them.

They're really neat! But be warned, just in case you haven't heard about this from anyone: don't expect sequels. They're in the same universe, yes, but they're stories about other people and the Howl-tachi are pretty minors characters. If you're expecting them to have focus or development, you'll be disappointed.
