I honestly, HONESTLY need to get into something more upbeat. The things I've read so far in the month and the one before (not counting that chapter of the Iliad, as it's more on douchy than depressing lines at this point) have been a kick in my non-existent balls. Even when they're satisfying like Percy 5 or FMA, there's still something heart- ( Read more... )

koukou debut is pretty upbeat, needless is a lot of fun uh

I'd say gintama and hajime no ippo but both of those are loooong. Now that I think about it I don't really watch/read a lot of upbeat stuff.

Eh, I tried Koukou Debut a while back and couldn't get into it. I'm extra picky with shoujo or something.

Yeah, waaaaaaaay too long. I wish I had more time and a way to watch the Gintama anime again -I used to go to Crunchyroll before they became WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE INTERWEBS IS NOT THE U.S.

Thanks anyway!

Aww. Otomen and Dengeki Daisy are pretty good shojo's too if you're willing to try them.

AW *punches crunchyroll*

I really dig Otomen, actually, but not sure if it's enough to reread it right now. Dengeki Daisy sounds very slice of life, and I'm even pickier about those. I kind of wanted something fresh and with less realism. Maybe I'll just... rewatch the first season of Sengoku Basara XD

ETA: wait, no, there's Hondam's death. Bawww.

Read or watch Chi's Sweet Home, and read Yotsuba. I hear Kobato is pretty cute too. Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu is a great little spinoff series that always makes me lol; you don't need to watch the previous series to get what's going on.

I'd prefer to avoid Chi's Sweet Home like the plague. Yes, it is cute, but I'm staring at photos of cats all day long lately when helping my mom, which means I'm sooo overloaded with the species and not in a good way. Bleagh.

Ah, I don't know if Yotsuba would work ATM, since happy shenanigans of a happy family could be counter-productive in my angry/bitter/depressive state of mind.

I once watched the first episode of Fumoffu and didn't leave me any strong impression, though.

Thanks anyway!

Hm. How about Aria or Genshiken?

Alternatively, I find that listening to classical music helps. I've got a lot of anime OSTs I can recommend.

Genshiken was another series I couldn't get into; most of the cast was creeping me out (to be fair, the exact same thing happened to me with The Big Bang Theory, so it's not only stereotypes of Japanese geeks what I'm picky about).

I love Aria to pieces, yet I have to be in a certain zen mood to enjoy it fully. I have the last volume bought this weekend and I haven't been able to touch it.

Music does wonders lift my mood when I'm out, but it's a bit out of the question inside the house. It's hard to be alert to people calling me to help with one ear and chillaxing to the rhythm with the other. /also bitter about not being able to listen to music in peace, god-fucking-dammit

I-I'm sorry, I'm really complicated D:

Ah, no worries! If I didn't have a long list of stuff to check out (and yet, ironically I still need recs because I'm not in the mood for lots of it), I promise you I'd be giving your crazy robots a chance.

No me enganchó y no quiero ninguna rec josei. Todo el mundo en mi flist adora Oofuri pero el manganime de deportes va en contra de mi religión.

Nada de videojuegos, por dios. No he podido tocar una consola en casi dos semanas y tengo como 3476 juegos pendientes as it is.

I have never thought to hit characters in the face with a trout. It's always been MY FIST.

Still, the trout is bound to hurt more and leave their faces all smelly.
